Mr. Darren S. Cordier, CFA is founder and president of FV Specialists, Inc. He has extensive experience; performing valuations of private equity and intangible assets since 1994. Mr. Cordier specializes in valuations for management related to financial advisory, intangible asset valuations, and valuation of incentive compensation units including private equity, options, stock based appreciation rights, etc.
Prior to founding FV Specialists, Inc., Mr. Cordier was a director with Business Valuation Advisors LLC, a business valuation and litigation support firm located in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Cordier has also served as the senior manager in charge of valuations for financial reporting purposes at Grant Thornton, an engagement director at American Appraisal Associates, and a senior consultant at Ernst & Young, LLP.
Mr. Cordier is well recognized for his knowledge of business valuation and fair value. He has spoken before the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("AICPA"), American Society of Appraisers ("ASA"), Institute of Business Appraisers, Appraisal Issues Task Force ("AITF"), and other professional groups on valuation topics ranging from valuation of early stage enterprises to valuations for financial reporting. Mr. Cordier has also been a contributing author to Financial Valuation: Applications and Models, edited by James Hitchner (John Wiley and Sons, Inc. 2003 and 2006); been a technical reviewer on the book Valuation for Financial Reporting, (John Wiley and Sons, Inc. 2002); is one of the authors a course for the AICPA entitled Exploring Issues in Valuing Stock Options and Other Assets You Can’t See, (AICPA, 2002, 2003), and is one of the current authors to a course under development on valuations of intangible assets for the American Society of Appraisers ("ASA").
Mr. Cordier's qualifications as a valuation specialist have been reviewed and accepted under Statements of Auditing Standards No. 73 as part of numerous valuations for financial reporting purposes by leading firms including KPMG; Ernst & Young; PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Deloitte and Touche; Grant Thornton; BDO Seidman; McGladrey & Pullen, LLP; etc. In addition, Mr. Cordier has supported his valuations under audit review under Statement of Auditing Standards No. 101 and before inquiries from the Securities and Exchange Commission. His work has also been reviewed as part of review of audits performed by leading accounting firms by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
Mr. Cordier received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master of business administration from Texas Christian University. Mr. Cordier is a holder of the CFA designation from the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute. Mr. Cordier also is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, a candidate member of the ASA, a member of the AITF, and a member of the Association for Corporate Growth.
